Life with a Toddler is Always Active 3-16-11

Life with a Toddler...Is Always ACTIVE...

I often wonder why I feel so tired when Landon lays down for a nap. I got eight hours of sleep last night, but yet I still feel tired when the house is quiet. And then I realized that it is because since the moment I got out of bed I have been picking up after, feeding, playing with, cleaning, pottying, and wiping :) my two year old! To those of you who do not yet have children it may not sound like much, but let me tell you...two year olds have a TON more energy than us adults do! However, to be honest, I must admit that I would much rather be chasing Landon or dancing around the room with him than sitting in a desk typing on a computer. I am sure one day that is what I will do all day...but for now, this is wonderful. Maybe I feel tired simply because for the first time all day, this is the first chance I get to just sit and think and hear...nothing. Ahh...the silence...

The past week has been somewhat uneventful other than our daily outside adventures. The weather warmed up on Friday and we have been outside every day, numerous times a day ever since. Landon has had a TON of fun riding his bike, mowing the lawn (and the pavement), playing in the dirt and rocks with his wagon, and driving his jeep.

In other news, my dear husband decided that he wanted to surprise me with a trip to see old friends. He decided to do it by telling me that he had a business trip in Las Vegas and I got to go with him for free. He told me this thinking that I would not even be excited bc who gets excited to go to Las Vegas on a business trip with their husband? Well, I do! I was ecstatic! After a week of hearing me proclaim every night that I got to go to Las Vegas for free and get three nights alone with him, minus a child, he decided that he had better tell me the truth so that I would not be disappointed about the REAL surprise (going to our friends house). Well, I was a little disappointed...not about surprising our friends or seeing them again (I am ecstatic about that), but about not getting a free trip to Las Vegas and not getting any real alone time. But I have to give him props because his intentions were so pure and he felt so bad that his little plan backfired. So for any of you that I told I was going to Las Vegas...scratch that, I'm not! I am going somewhere else (which I cannot say where bc it is a surprise for our friends).

For those interested...potty training remains at a stand still until I get the courage to take him out of the house in underwear. It has progressed some, however, in that he will now wear underwear (Thomas the train or Elmo preferably) around the house and not pee in it. Still no poop...but the last catastrophe has me a bit scared to try that again.

I know I keep saying this, but it is so true...besides the potty training...I just love this phase of life that Landon is in now! He gets so excited about everything and he is just so EASY compared to a year ago. He eats better, sleeps better, behaves better, communicates better, and the list goes on. So for any of you moms who have one year olds let me encourage you...it only gets better!!!! I miss Landon being a baby, but I LOVE the boy he is so fast becoming.

I will close with a picture of Landon with his favorite person in the world, Grandma, which he affectionately calls "Ma." We tried to tell him to say Grandma, but he looked at us and said very clearly, "No, Just Ma!" Ma and Papa and Aunt Brenn came up to our house Saturday for pizza and then treated us to ice cream. It was a wonderful evening! Thanks Papa and Ma!!!
