Summer Love 7-14-09

IMG_1783IMG_1799 Oh so much to say and oh so little time. So much has gone on these past weeks...lets see...4th of July was a blast (one of Landon's FAVORITE holidays). We went to the Lake and watched fireworks and both boys loved it...Noah kept asking for "More parklers!" My mom bought them lightsabers which they dueled with into the dark hours of the night...the whole thing was just so much fun.

Last weekend I hosted my 10 year class reunion here at my house. We were able to have dinner at a nearby restaurant right on the water. It was the most gorgeous evening, with absolutely perfect weather. Then we came back here for a campfire and smores. It was wonderful to see everyone.

Landon learned to swim last week...all the way across the shallow end from one side to the other. I can't believe that in the span of two weeks he learned to ride a bike AND swim...neither of which I ever thought he would actually conquer I am so proud of him and his new found confidence!

We have had a few trips to the beach...beautiful evenings. And lots of picnics with neighbor friends...and at least three firework extravaganzas at the culdesac, where all the neighbor kids gathered and we shot off LOTS of fireworks.

Landon gets fixated on certain things, and sometimes those things tend to be negative or sad. Like every Thursday night when Grandma leaves...he always gets sad and tends to stay fixated on that sadness. So tonight I told him that he has to punch those sad, negative thoughts out of his brain as though he is turning a channel and he needs to replace those sad thoughts with happy ones. As I type this, I hear him in his bed making punching sounds saying, "Happy thought...happy thought." I love that kid.

Life has certainly been busy, but my heart is overflowing amidst all of this. I got home tonight from work and as I drove into the driveway both boys came running as fast as their little legs could carry them...all the way into my arms, shouting, "Mama's home! Mama's home." A few moments later as I was unpacking the car I heard Noah "counting" (four, four, four, four) and hiding his eyes while Landon hid...and then off Noah skipped in hot pursuit of his brother. I couldn't help but audibly sigh at the beautiful sight before me. I love my family so very much. I am blessed beyond measure. As I share these photos of our lives these past weeks my heart is literally bursting at the seams with gratefulness for the gifts I have been given. Some days I feel like time is flying by so fast and life is so busy that I struggle to balance everything...but then when I least expect it, I am hit with a moment where the sheer beauty of life and relationship and family completely overtakes me. And as I view these MANY pictures I am just plain grateful for the beautiful memories and life that God has granted me in these moments that I call my life.
