Quick Update
Thank you ALL so much for your support and prayer pledges. I appreciate your encouragement and support and most importantly, your prayers, more than I can express.
David and Amy are on their way to Mayo Clinic as I type. They should be there soon. Early Thursday morning they have a meeting with the surgeon who will perform David's "awake" surgery. It has to be done while he is awake because they need to see and hear him speak to be sure that those areas of his brain are not damaged. Talk about scary...being awake while someone does surgery on your brain! But David is strong, and if you read his blog, you know that he is optimistic and always looking for the positive. And, most impotantly, he is trusting that the soveriegn God is in conrol and working all things together for the good of those who love Him. From that surgery we will know a lot more (what class the tumor is, prognosis, treatment strategies, etc).
For those of us at home, waiting and hoping and praying, reality is beginning to set in a little more. At first, it just all seemed so surreal; but as hours are wearing into days and my mind cannot seem to stray from thoughts surrounding Amy and David, I am beginning to understand the reality of this situation all the more. I am still dumbfounded...still questioning how this could have happened...and what is going to happen. But I am also in amazement at the strength and grace demonstrated by these two in this moment. I had the privilege of praying with Amy the other day and talking with her for over an hour...and the conversation floats in and out of my head. It was the last conversation I had with her before this whole thing went from a concept to a reality. She was on her way to meet David at the hospital. I long to be with them...but I praise God that He is with them. That He has sent all of you to pray and to surround them with love during this time. I praise God for the family of Believers. And that we have a hope and a future and the promise of God.
I will keep you updated as I can. I work tomorrow and Thursday and my sister is flying in from Florida on Thursday afternoon through Tuesday. In the meantime, please continue to pray for Amy and David...for the surgery and for David's speech to remain intact. For his beautiful personality to come through unscathed. For a good prognosis and, for a miracle. Thank you dear friends.
I have always prayed for people in situations like this...but they were removed. This is entirely different. This is family...these are people I love deeply...
