Its a Blizzard! 2-5-07

Its a Blizzard! Its a Blizzard!

Year 4 006Starting Friday during the day, our tempertaures dropped and our wind chills plummetted. Currently it is -20 out (that is including windchills). Starting that same day the snow started coming and the wind started howling. All day Saturday we were quarantined to our home as the weather raged outside. It was kind of a cozy feeling...being literally stuck inside with my family. We got a lot done! Sunday, all of the churches were cancelled and the weather continued. In fact, we went to get some dinner last night and found the roads deserted and the restaurants closed (we were the only idiots driving around in our SUV  ). I think Jonathan secretly enjoyed the adventure of driving in a blizzard. Today, all of the schools are closed and while the snow has tapered off, the wind continues to drift the snow and the temperatures are way cold. They are saying this is the coldest that it has been since the early 90's! How fun! It is a winter wonderland out there!
So I have been procrastinating on my post-work for my class I took in January. I have two projects due on March 2, which seemed so far away...and now are right around the corner! I did one this weekend...all weekend. The other involves hosting 2 40-minute counseling sessions with someone of my choice. I am dreading this (mainly bc I don't know who to counsel...I don't really want to do friend and can't do family and a stranger is out). So I have that hurdle to cross. I finally got the nerve up to check out the requirements for my March 12 class. I am a little unsure...it will be much more involved than my January class. After I attend Liberty for the week of March 12 I will then have three exams...the final being April 29 ( five days after my membranes will be stripped). My final project for the class...due May 13....I will DEFINITELY have had the baby by then. So, my choice is to A) not take the class...not really an option for multiple reasons) or b) take it and get 900 pages of reading, three exams and a huge final project all done between March 19 and April 25. Sound a bit stressful for the time right before a baby is going to be born? Oh what to do?
Preschool registration is this week. I have been dreading it. I cannot believe that Landon is old enough for preschool, and yet he is. He really needs the social interaction. We are going to put him in a two day a week class...but he teeters on the edge bc he is eligible for both the 3 and 4 year old classes and I don't know which to put him in. Also, we are debating Christian or public. Both are comparable in price...for this year. Who knew choosing a preschool could be this difficult!
18-24 months 162Finally, we need to throw a party! Right after we graduated from college, Jonathan got the grand idea of building a desk. We had visited a Restoration Hardware and he fell in love with this particular desk, but we had NO money, so he decided that he could build it for a fraction of the cost. He thought it would take a few months...three and a half years later, he has FINALLY finished it. It is gorgeous and beyond belief to me that he turned some scrappy cherry boards into this work of art!  There were a few times I was sure it was going to end up chopped into a million pieces in our wood pile, but sanity prevailed and after more hard work than I could ever express...it is finally done. Congratulations, Honey. It is BEAUTIFUL! What an awesome heirhoom he will be able to pass down to our children!
*Picture one is my back yard covered in about 2 feet of snow!
*Picture 2 is Landon and Jonathan sanding the desk a year and a half ago!
*Picture 3 is the finished product!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*** Thanks Miss Marketer for pointing out I only have 100 days left!!!
Actually...it will be at least 7 days before this so only 93 left! Praise the Lord!!!!!!!!!!!
