Random Musings on My Soon-to-be Life
Yesterday I began a weekly tradion of caring for my neighbor's two month old son. Every Thursday from now on Landon and I will be joined by Aiden. I got up at 6:45...a big stretch for this lousy body of mine. He was here at 7:15 napped until 9:00, ate at 9:30 and the rest of the morning was a mirror of how Landon used to be....eat, have awake time for an hour, sleep for an hour and a half. Clock work. I was so enjoying it and actually getting VERY excited about having two kids. Landon could not have been a better helper....he wanted to do EVERYTHING. He fed Aiden every bottle, helped change every diaper, talked to him, ran and got me needed items, and was just generally so exicted to have a baby in the house. I was thrilled with Landon. That was about the only sentiment that lasted all day. From 1 until 5:30 when he was picked up, baby boy just was not happy. His mom told me he was a bit high maintenance, but I just wasn't prepared...especially after how well the morning went. Landon never did take a nap bc Aiden was having a really hard time during that time. Pretty much he was happy only if I was walking and bouncing him. By the time he left I was second-guessing this whole two children thing. Landon was such an easy infant and I am really hoping for another just like him. Maybe this weekly experience is going to prepare me for how this baby will be....who knows. At any rate, I am a little nervous. But I know...having your own child is totally different than having someone else's. You can let your child cry himself to sleep, you can let him fuss a little before you tend to his needs. With someone else's child...you are clearly doing what they do...and that may be different from what you would do with your own children. Anyway, he is an adorable baby boy and my big boy is thrilled about having a baby of his own in a few short months.
Wednesday I took Landon to the aquatic center with two of his little friends. They have a play area for kids with slides and basketball hoops and steering wheels that squirt water. He loved every minute of it. From there we went to Wendy's and all of the kids got to get kids meals. This was a special treat for Landon...I don't think he has had an actual kids meal in about a year. I love it that he can appreciate something relatively small.
Today I woke up with a sore throat and a general feeling of malaise. I hope it doesn't get any worse...but I can't complain we have not been sick all winter. Oh yes...and currently we have 2 plus feet of snow on the ground with a BLIZZARD coming tomorrow. Pretty exciting! If it is going to be cold...it might as well snow.
My friend just found out she is having a baby girl...she has a 2 year old little boy already. I am sure she is so thrilled and I am so excited for her.
Finally, my sister who is expecting a baby in August is booking flights to come see us in April. I am SO SO SO excited that we will get to see one another pregnant (me about to pop...her super cute). I am going to throw her a shower while she is here and I am so excited about that too...I love to do that kind of stuff! Yeah for unexpected surprises that make you want to burst with excitement!
Oh yeah...LadyMiss suggested we name the baby Hans Hunsberger. I laughed out loud at her suggestion bc Jonathan's parents almost named him Hans and I make fun of him for it all of the time. The other night I suggested that maybe we should name this baby Hans. He was not amused

So far...we are not naming the baby Hans or Attila...still working on names that we actually like.
Have a most wonderful weekend my friends!!!!
