Made a Mess 9-15-06

Made a Mess

A few funny stories and tidbits from life:
  • Last night I was at church and Landon was home with Daddy. Well, Jonathan was on the phone with his dad having a very important conversation and Landon had to go potty. So he does what he always does...and went into the bathroom on his own to take care of business. However, his stool was missing so he climbed onto the potty and stood in a squatting position. He must have had to go really badly bc before he could point his little thingy down it sprayed out into a nice puddle on the bathroom floor. In walks Jonathan and 1) panics to see Landon in such a precarious position on the toilet and 2) hears Landon say in a panicked voice "Made a mess, Made a mess, Made a mess." As though he would be deeply scolded. Well, Jonathan got Landon off the toilet and shut the bathroom door bc he had something he HAD to take care of at that moment (don't let your mind wander too far, but dinner did not settle with him last night  ) AND he was on the phone with his dad...so he could not clean up the pee puddle at that moment. So while Jonathan is taking care of his business he hears Landon in the guest bathroom rummaging all around, toilet flushes and Landon comes running into Jon and says, "Mess all cleaned up" No trouble Dad!" After Jon was done he went into the Landon's bathroom...the pee puddle was completely gone, we have no idea what Landon cleaned it up with, or what got flushed down the toilet. But there were Clorox wipes out...  Our son is a bit of neat-freak, and obviously thought he was going to be in great trouble bc he tried to take care of it FOR Jonathan so that he would not get into trouble (which he actually would not have...it was not his fault the stool was missing). Anyway...poor Jonathan had an interesting night.
  • Everyday Landon asks if his doggy friend is going to come play with him. The dog has been MIA since a few weeks ago.
  • Last night Landon was getting into trouble for playing with his plate and cup during dinner. In the middle of Jonathan talking to Landon about why we do not do that, Landon interrupted and said, "You smell like peanut butter." Jonathan had just had peanut butter M and M's. One of those moments you want to laugh so hard, but have to concentrate on the matter at hand.
  • The last few days Landon has wanted to play boat with me...constantly. He gets a few couch cushions, lays them on the floor, gets his little toy steering wheel and a blanket for me, and drives us on the boat. He loves it. I love watching him pretend!
  • I have a horrible scratchy throat. I HATE scratch throats. I was seriously up about 8 of the 9 hours I was in bed last night. I can't sleep when my throat feels like this. Funny thing is that when I was pregnant with Landon I had the same itchy throat thing in the two weeks before I got pregnancy sickness. I don't think it is related...but I think it is a funny coincidence. I am praying Landon doesn't get whatever I am getting....
  • Tomorrow is the memorial service for my friend Gabe. I am sure it will be an emotional day..especially for his family. The entire episode has seemed somewhat removed from me since it happened...but I am sure that tomorrow it will all become an all-too-true reality.
  • Thank you all for your input on what to do with my mouthy little guy. We have been upping the ante(for what feels like weeks)...and giving tangible consequences to the posterior  So far...no avail...but I am sure that if we are consistent enough, in the end, he will come through.
  • Have  a wonderful weekend, Friends.
