All Right Already
I just posted on Thursday, but it feels like ages ago to me...and apparently to a few of my readers, since the request to update is coming in droves
Lets see...Friday's trip to the museum was canceled five minutes before I walked out the door bc we found out they were closed that day. I had a seriously disappointed four year old. He had gotten up that morning, got dressed, brushed his teeth and even wet his hair down all on his own because he was so excited. I felt terrible having to tell him we couldn't do it. We went to Grandma's instead...it just about made up for it, and we are trying the museum again...sometime, hopefully soon.
This weekend we worked around the house. We got the basement rearranged and cleaned up and it looks beautiful down there. Quite cozy for a downstairs...although it is finished and is a walkout, so it doesn't even really feel like a "downstairs." Now we just have to finish decorating. We were going to paint and put a fireplace in, but money...you know. So we didn't and that is fine.
Yesterday my dear friend from high school came up. She brought her 19 month old daughter and Landon played very nicely with her. Noah has entered into a serious stranger phobic stage...so he was a little sad. Krista said he didn't look like his pictures on xanga and we decided it was becuase he wasn't smiling, and in all of the pics I put on here he is always smiling...bc he is. Oh well...serious or not, he is a keeper. Krista and I had a chance to catch up a little while the kids played. Lunch was a picnic on the floor and then Landon went out to play with a neighbor boy. I am so blessed to have some of my high school friends with whom I can still share such a closeness. They are my oldest friends...they know me the best...and I love them dearly.
Today we went to an indoor playland at a local church with my neighbor and her kids. It was great to get out of the house and Landon had the time of his life running around with kids his own age. This boy, Max, is Landon's only friend his own age. None of my friends had kids when I did, so I don't know many people with 3 or 4 year olds. Tons of them have 1 year olds and babies...for Noah, but not many older kids. So today was good. Sometimes I worry that Landon will be behind socially for lack of playmates, but he did well playing today, and even made some additional friends at the park. Those kinds of places freak me out about germs...but sometimes I have to force myself to step outside of the bubble for the sake of my sanity and my kids ability to actually enjoy their childhood
And finally...my baby has taken yet another step towards independence and this time...a big one. As of last night, and again this morning...Noah has walked from mid-room to the couch. I am just about to the point where I can say he is walking. It seemed to happen overnight, really. For so long he was just standing or taking a step or cruising the furniture. Then last night...boom...he was off. Three short months ago he couldn't even crawl. My snuggly bear is gaining his freedom and his independence. I am proud of him, excited for him, and a tiny bit sad to see him letting go of my hand and striking out on his own.
And there you have it my friends...my life in a nutshell the past few days.
