Super Readers
I was watching Super Readers with Landon yesterday morning and I started acting like one of the super hero readers. Landon said, "Mom, stop! You are not a super-hero, you are Mama!" I asked him if I could be a super-hero when I was done being a mama to which he replied, "You are always going to be my mama, and then...one day, you will die..." Profound, I know. :-0
How is it that a nine month old child knows how to be naughty. When Noah gets something he wants and is not supposed to have, he takes off with it. Fast. And this morning after about 3 minutes of not hearing him for awhile (he was over by his toy box, so I figured he was playing with his toys), I went to check and sure enough...he was eating dirt from my plant again. He was intentionally being quiet...so as not to be discovered. Amazing to me their little sin natures that begin to show themselves so early...and we never have to teach them to be naughty. It is innate. Coupled with their innate ability to be naughty is the innate ability to be cute and loving and cuddly and precious.
I just came out from getting Noah down for a nap and Landon is sitting on the floor playing chutes and ladders. He has it all set up and is playing it by himself, but when I walked out he said to me, " Mom, I am playing chutes and ladders, would you like to join me?" Now how in the heck am I supposed to say no to that?
Yesterday I did grad school...out and about on my own. My mom came up for the day (she has been doing that quite often) which helps so much. I get six hours in one big chunk of time and get a ton done. And I get to see that there is an actual functioning world outside of my four walls. I spent the first two hours of my time at Panera studying for my test. I love it there. I study, drink coffee, eat a bagel, people watch, people listen. Lovely.
Tomorrow I am taking the kids to the children's museum with my dad and his daughter (she is younger than Landon). I find it so funny that I do these toddler activities with my father and his toddler daughter. It is so unconventional and somewhat backwards, but it works, so whatever. At least we are doing something him. And Landon really likes Maria...and vice versa and since I don't have too many friends with kids Landon's age this works.
Welp...off to go play chutes and ladders. Wish me lots of ladders and no slides!
