Home again, Home Again 8-18-08

And somehow a whole week has passed and I am once again sitting in my living room typing to all of you! We had a nice trip. Noah did pretty well on the plane (even slept some both times!) and Landon was as easy as pie. I love age 4...I really do. Anyway...the hotel was gorgeous, just as it was last year and I think both boys loved the change of scenery. Landon loved the pool and so did Noah...and Noah even slept in the stroller everyday at the pool for almost two hours! We got to see my niece (and my sister) quite a few times (although it always felt like not enough...maybe bc I was chasing around two kiddos?) and we also got to see my nephew (although only for a day, which was NOT enough...and my sister too!!!!!!!!!!). We did not do any theme parks this year in an effort to save some money, but we went to the crazy and insane Downtown Disney (it is free to get in there) twice (last year it did not seem as insane as it did this year) and we also rode the monorail around one evening. Landon not only got to sit in the front car twice, but the guy actually let him drive the monorail once. It was the highlight of Landon's life. He took his job VERY seriously and loved every moment of it. You should have seen the look on his face when the guy asked him if he wanted to drive it. Of course, it was the one time I did NOT have my camera on me. Oh well, it is cemented in my memory and I know Landon will never forget it.

Overall, we really had a great time. I have to say, however, that vacation was a lot more work this time than last. I think the difference is that last year Noah was only 3 months old, and that was a TON easier than 14 months old. He is an easy 14 month old, but the age in itself is a difficult one. Just a lot of work...more so than play. Perhaps 2 and 5 will be better, but 1 and 4 were more than we had bargained for. They weren't bad...they were actually really good...we just weren't thinking in the mode of having two kids and had false expectations for the vacation. You know...play more than work. But it just isn't so with two mobile kids. Saying that...we still had a wonderful time by the pool, enjoying family, and just being away. Now we are awakened to the fact that we are in a different stage of life and next time, I think we will be more prepared for the work involved in taking two kids on a vacation!

Tomorrow we have xanga friends coming to stay with us until Friday. I am super excited...albeit, a little stressed as I have a lot to do between now and then...so here are a few pictures to tide you over until next time. Hope you all had a great week...at some point I will get around to see what I missed!!!
