Ok, so I am packing for the kids and wracking my brain as to what I can bring to keep them quiet on the plane and in the hotel room (when we are there). I bought this Sega game gear system off of Craigs List for super cheap thinking that I could bring it for Landon to play on the trip. The next day I was at Target and heard this mother and father talking to their two middle school aged children. The conversation went something like this, " We are on vacation and all you two want to do is play video games and talk on your phones! You don't want to do anything and you never talk anymore! You are turning into rather boring people!" I could see myself there in 10 years. Landon just loves video games and for the time being he is extremely limited (he doesn't even play them every day), but I know that the battle will get harder as he grows and peer pressure sets in. We live in such a techno age. I wish we didn't...but that is another story. Ok, so I dont know if I want to bring this game system anymore. It would be easy (it is small) and would keep his attention for as long as I would allow it to. And it would take up a lot less room than coloring books and crayons and action figures and all that would be required to bring otherwise. BUT, I don't want to use something just because it is easy. I want interactive, conversational children. I don't think that letting Landon play this thing on a plane ride is going to make him a boring kid, but I am afraid of the precedent it may set and the pathway it may lead us down. I want him to play mad libs and car games when he is 10...not be staring out the window with ear plugs in his ear listening to i-tunes while he shuts the rest of the world out. Ya get me? Before I was a parent I just didn't understand that nearly every decision has a million different repercussions. So what to do...pack it or no.
And what in the world do I bring on the plane for a 14 month old to do? Someone help here, because I have absolutely no idea at all. As of now, all I have for him on the plane are some yogurt melts (which, I do believe Noah enjoys food more than toys, but still). HELP!!!!!!
And here is the video I promised you all a few weeks ago. It is still turned the wrong way...sorry. Jon has been pretty busy lately, and believe it or not, I am somewhat computer inept.
